Údarás na Gaeltachta, in tandem with the local community organisation, have developed a new gteic facility (shared working space) at Cillín Liath where nine individual glass-encased and lockable work booths are available. Managed by Forbairt na Dromoda, this new development complements the existing gteic digital hub at Dún Géagáin, Baile ‘n Sceilg, managed by Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh and which comprises six co-working spaces.
These hub facilities are suited to remote working, freelancers, start-ups, students as well as visitors, and are available either long term or just for the day.

The Local Enterprise Office (LEO) - Provides support to assist with the establishment and/or growth of enterprises and sole traders, employing up to ten people. A range of supports are available from feasibility study grants, training, mentoring and various financial supports to support a potential enterprise development.

Spotlight of Local Businesses

Opportunities for Artists
Visual artists, designers, videographers and writers garner inspiration from the breadth and wealth of physical beauty and landscape of the Iveragh peninsula. Local demand and the summer influx of tourists provide for both a local and seasonal demand.
Creative Places
Uíbh Ráthach is currently in the first phase of the Irish Art’s Council’s “Creative Places” programme.
This will potentially create new opportunities to develop and enrich our local arts infrastructures through sustained, socially engaged arts practices. Over the next few years there will be a focus on developing our natural resources, our cultural strengths and our community’s spirit in order to establish Uíbh Ráthach as a creative location which will have much to offer ambitious and innovative artists.
Uíbh Ráthach is looking to a future where our dynamic, local community of artists and arts practitioners will enjoy enhanced opportunities to create great work and build sustainable careers, for the benefit of all of our society.

There are a number of providers of broadband services operating in the area, and ongoing upgrades and improvements are currently being made to the infrastructure in the area, particularly in the context of the rollout of the National Broadband Plan.
You can check the availability of fibre broadband (giving speeds of up to 100 Mb/s) at any address nationally through the fibrerollout.ie website, and similarly the status at any premises in relation to the NBP (i.e. where fibre is not going to be available) can be seen on nbi.ie. Information on locally provided broadband services from Ivertec (giving speeds of up to 150 Mb/s) can be found at https://www.ivertec.ie/ , while information on the packages available from SCC Broadband can be accessed at https://www.sccbroadband.ie/
A number of Broadband Connection Points are being developed under the auspices of Kerry County Council at the following locations throughout Iveragh at present
Cable Station, Knightstown, Valentia
Chapeltown Community Centre, Valentia
Kells Bay Railway Station Heritage Centre & Community Space
Derrynane House
Cillín Liath (Ionad Pobail na Dromoda)
Members of the public will be able to access broadband at these centres when they fully operational.
